A red wine recommendation...St. Francis Sonoma County Red 2004

I like wine. I like it with food..and with friends. I will drink pretty much anything as long as it tastes good. It doesn't have to be expensive, it just has to be good. I'm not claiming to be utterly sophisticated when it comes to wine, and I am known for choosing wines based on what the label looks like...so far, my randomness has not failed me!

Recently, I have been improving my skills in the kitchen, and playing around with wine pairings...so, in that spirit, I wanted to share one of my recent discoveries:

This is St. Francis Sonoma County Red 2004. It's a red blend (60% Merlot, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cab Franc and 4% Zinfandel), but don't let that scare you away...it's good! Goes great with a steak or a burger. It's fruity and a tiny bit dry - I chill it for about 1/2 hour before serving and that opens up the flavor. I'm not a wine expert, but this is a great buy - less than $10. The label comes in several versions of "paint splats," so if the label looks a little different than this one, it's ok.

My verdict: Two big thumbs up!!

You can get this wine at BJs for around $8.99...enjoy!
